・ファミリー・フレンドリー企業・・・・・・・働く女性の増加、核家族化など家族形態が変化して労働者が仕事を継続していく上で、育児・介護が大きな負担・障害になっている。そこで育児・介護休業法によるバックアップもあるが、厚生労働省は仕事と育児・介護が両立できる様々な制度をもち、多様かつ柔軟な働き方を従業員が選択できる取り組むファミリー。フレンドリー企業の育成・普及に努めてきた。企業にとっても、従業員が仕事と家庭を両立できれば、モラール向上、人材確保、欠勤の減少など、労務管理にメリットがある。１９９９年から表彰制度を設けて、２００２年までに１６１社が受賞している。具体的には①法を上回る基準の育児・介護休業制度を規定して、実際に利用されている。②仕事と家庭のバランスを配慮した柔軟な働き方ができる制度、たとえば育児・介護のための短時間勤務制度やフレックスタイム制などがあって、実際に利用されている。③仕事と家庭の両立を可能にするその他の制度、例えば事業所内託児所や育児・介護費用の助成措置などがあり、、実際に利用されている。④制度が、男性労働者にもよく利用されており、管理職の理解もあるなど、仕事と家庭の両立がしやすい企業文化をもっていいる。といった企業を表彰している。０２年に厚生労働大臣優良賞を受けたのは富士ゼロックス株式会社。育児期間や介護期間の延長、フレックスタイムや休暇制度なども活用した多彩な選択肢を用意した勤務時間の短縮・調整・職場復帰・ホームヘルパー利用料の補助・電話相談も含めた育児情報の充実など、少子高齢化社会への多様な取り組みのシステム作りを労使が協力しておこなっていることが評価された。厚生労働省はさらに、育児休業制度の啓発・普及を図るため、事業主・労務担当者などが自社の「仕事と家庭の両立」状況を認識できるチェックリスト「両立指標」を策定した。０３年度中には、同業他社との比較や分析結果の診断コメントなどを得ることができるインターネットによるサイトを開設。
