・環境保全のための政策統合（ＥＰＩ）environmental policy intergration

・これらの環境政策の新たな展開において重要となっている基本理念。とくに２１世紀に入って以降、従来までの狭義の環境政策の領域ないし分野のみでなく、経済・産業・交通・福祉など、他の領域ないし分野での公共政策との整合性の確保さらには、より進んだレベルでの「政策統合」policy integration への取り組みが重要な課題となっている。これらの時代の環境保全には、従来までの環境配慮（グリーン化）を徹底させ、そのことを通じて、社会経済システム全体の再構築（グリーン改革）への本格的な取り組みを進めていくことが不可欠である。すでに、ＥＵ（欧州連合）では１９８０年代前半の「第３次環境行動計画」以来、ＥＰＩの理念が掲げられこの理念に沿った取り組みが重視されている。
